WHAT CURRENTLY NEEDS REPAIR
Unfortunately, things often break down at 3003 Van Ness and it takes a long time for Equity Residential to repair them. This often isn’t the fault of the maintenance staff, but a failure of the company - which cuts costs, has a barebones staff and short-changes residents.
This page lists problems that currently need repair. It lists problems in common areas only — not private apartments. We hope that by listing these publicly and including photos, Equity Residential will feel a twinge of embarrassment and will move more quickly to get things fixed.
We realize that it is normal for things in a large apartment building, vintage early 1970s, to break. We also realize that sometimes non-urgent repairs can’t get fixed overnight. However, Equity has had a history of failing to fix obvious problems for weeks at a time. For this reason, we have compiled the list below.
If you see anything listed here that has been repaired, please let us know. We will remove it from the list. On the other hand, if you see something missing please let us know, we’ll add it. But please take 4-5 photos, date them, and write a brief and accurate description. It’s best also to submit an official service request on Equity’s website — see instructions here.
LAUNDRY
Washing machines and dryers are frequently out of service. The floors are sometimes flooded. Sometimes there are holes in walls where repairs were begun but not finished.
Here are problems in laundry rooms as of February 12, 2022.
South building, 3rd Floor
One washing machine is out of service. Pipes are exposed in the area behind the washers. There is a gash in the wall above the washers.
