REPORT ELEVATOR OUTAGES
The elevators at 3003 Van Ness are frequently out of service. The tenant association has complained about this many times over more than five years, but but as of June 2025, one of the four elevators in the West building is always out of service, and one of the elevators in the South building is very frequently out of service. At times, there is only one working elevator in each of the two 11-story towers.
Because this problem has gone on for so long, the tenant association has created the reporting form below so we can collect information about the frequency of outages. Anytime you note that an elevator is out of service — please fill out the form below. The information is collected in a database, and it will be used if we need to take further steps to get all elevators back in service — or replaced.
Please read or skim the information below, then fill out the short form below.
DON’T FORGET TO EMAIL MANAGEMENT
This tool is important but it is not a replacement for reporting outages to management. You can make a difference by sending a brief email to building manager Dan Burkes. (Click here to send a pre-addressed email or send an email manually to dburkes@eqr.com and cc: to vnsta@vnsta.org.)
It is enough to send one email to management every few days — until you get a reasonable response of the elevator is repaired. However, you can fill out the form below for the tenant association as often as you have time or patience. This will help us know definitely how often the elevators are broken.
RECORD VIDEO
You can also help by recording a video of the out of service elevator. It is helpful to record video, instead of just taking a photo, because if you let your phone/camera record for 30 seconds to one minute, you can make it clear that the elevator is not working. If you take a video, please send it to vnsta@vnsta.org. If you have trouble sending the video, simply save the video and let us know via email that you have the video.
