VNSTA Escalates Giant Access Petition to Senior VIVMARK Management

The Van Ness South Tenants Association has asked senior management at Vivmark Residential to intervene in the longstanding failure to repair the electronic fob readers that provide residents of 3003 Van Ness with underground access to Giant supermarket and Metro.

On October 14, VNSTA delivered a letter and petition signed by more than 100 residents to General Manager Dan Burkes, requesting permanent repairs and a timetable for completion. Management did not respond by the October 23 deadline.

VNSTA has now written a new letter to Regional Manager Josh Luper, asking him to intervene and provide a timetable for restoring access.

The underground passage has been an important amenity of the Van Ness complex for more than 50 years. Although residents of Van Ness North and Van Ness East continue to enjoy access, the fob readers serving 3003 Van Ness remain inoperable. See the video below recorded on October 24, 2026.

With winter approaching, the loss of this amenity is particularly burdensome for seniors and residents with mobility limitations. Members of the Van Ness South Tenants Association strongly request that Vivmark Residential take immediate steps to repair the fob readers so residents can use this important passage to Giant and Metro.
