After several years of MISERY at 3003 Van Ness, we have seen some improvements in recent months. Management has painted and put down new carpet in the hallways, painted the underground garages, and is replacing the elevators. And it appears that some of the very disruptive residents have been evicted.
On the other hand, sometimes only one elevator is working in either building — which means very long waits. Sometimes none work at all.
Some of the security doors from the garages to the buildings remain broken, so it is easy to get into the building without a fob. Security at the front door is also very lax.
The fob mechanism on the door to the Giant grocery is still broken after many months, so residents can no longer access the grocery through underground. This was a huge convenience, but this hasn’t worked properly for months.
There are too few maintenance staff — and very little staff at all. It is difficult to get help from the leasing office, which is frequently closed.
Management treats residents as an inconvenience. It allows third-party vendors to enter apartments without warning and without being accompanied by staff.
There are many great things about the property — the huge pool, the proximity to the metro, nice apartments, hardwood floors, balconies, etc. However, Equity Residential has mismanaged the property for years. Let’s hope that things continue to move in the right direction.
